The ʿUmrah (Arabic: عمرة) is a pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, performed by Muslims that can be undertaken at any time of the year, in contrast to the Hajj. In Arabic, Umrah means "to visit a populated place". In the Sharia, Umrah means to perform Tawaf round the Kaaba and Sa'i between Al-Safa and Al-Marwah, after assuming Ihram (a sacred state), either from a Miqat like Zu 'l-Hulafa, Juhfa, Qarnu 'l-Manāzil, Yalamlam, Zāt-i-'Irq, Ibrahīm Mursīa, or a place in Hill. It is sometimes called the 'minor pilgrimage' or 'lesser pilgrimage', the Hajj being the 'major' pilgrimage and which is compulsory for every able-bodied Muslim who can afford it. The Umrah is not compulsory but highly recommended.
It was great feeling visiting Saudi Arabia especially Makkah and Madina cities, looking at the Kabba for the very first time in front of you! every prayer in Makkah made us feel so especial and hard to believe that we finally reached the holy place, people are so humble and cooperative in every aspect.
In geographical way the Kabbah is surrounded by mountains and since then the Saudi government is cutting down the huge mountains and making houses or residential plots for local and visitor to stay in the city, a part from this the extension for the Haram is also underway from last 10 years, it will boost the number of visitors to attend the place.
Its better if one is going to stay more days in Saudi Arabia start cooking your own dishes other wise its very difficult to find Asian spicy food!! you might find one in Makkah and only one in Madina City. All Shops and restaurants close at the prayer times in the cities, car passing and renewal is after every 3 years so its easy to find almost all cars with dents and stretches and no head or brake lights some times.
Makkah city is always busy with visitors and traffic especially near Kabbah, but even though if you stand for payer you will feel very relaxed and happy.
